Women’s Haircuts

Priced differently than men’s haircuts because typically it takes certain skills, training, and extra time to cut women’s hair but also like mentioned before, some stylists specialize in women’s hair and the science of cutting long hair.

Men’s Haircuts

Usually cut with the clippers, various lengths of ‘short’ on the sides and longer on the top. Or buzzed all around.

Demi or Semi Permanent Color

Simply put, this is a type of color that will eventually fade. Semi permanent colors usually don’t need high volume developers and are slightly gentler on the hair than permanent colors.

Permanent Color

Permanent color means that the color formula used will cover gray hair and will stay in the hair much longer than semi. With proper post-treatment hair care permanent color will be more permanent than if the colored hair is not cared for properly, then it will fade.

All Over Color

Either demi or permanent color, an all over color service means that the same color has been applied to the entire head.

Sometimes all over color will mean just the roots, what’s grown since the last color treatment. Or it can mean that the color is pulled through the length of the hair and the hair is truly colored all over.

Color Retouch

Retouch services are only for color and relaxing services. This means the treatment is reapplied to the outgrowth, whatever has grown in since the last treatment.

Highlighting

Highlighting is only ever done with bleach. It is popularly done with the help of foils, to help maintain control over what parts of the hair receive the bleach and help prevent splotching or bleeding. Toning is almost always needed to finish off a beautiful highlight.

Other Chemical Treatments

Perms and Relaxers

Chemically changing the internal structure and shape of the hair strand permanently is called a perm (short for permanent). Perms make the hair curly. Relaxers chemically make the hair straight.

These treatments do not work on the outgrowth. Meaning that whatever grows from the scalp after the treatment will be your natural texture and need the perm or relaxing treatment retouched.

Brazilian Blowout

A semi permanent chemical treatment for volume and straightening. Specialty salons perform Brazilian blowouts, this is not a treatment found in any typical salon.

Wash only.

A shampoo-style is when a blow dry style is added after the wash.

A blowout is when the hair is damp, or wet after a shampoo, and round-brushed straight with volume and usually a little curl at the bottom of the length.

Waxing

Wax services consist of facial waxing, eyebrows, lip, sometimes salons offer nose and ear waxing. Hard wax is usually what is used for facial waxing, though sometimes honey or other soft waxes are used and removed with strips.

Beard Trims

Also known as ‘Beard Shaping’ is when the beard is either buzzed down to the same length, or trimmed and shaped. The mustache is included in beard trim services.

Updos or Specialty Styles

For the special occasion some salons offer updos or specialty braiding.

Braiding

Usually braiding is offered by specialty salons that exclusively offer braiding. Such as cornrows, or box braids, twists, or extensions in braids.

Deep Conditioning Services

Sometimes after a color or highlight service, or if the hair is particularly dry a deep conditioning service is great to bring some life back onto the locks!

Deep conditioning usually only takes 15 minutes to do in the salon, and lasts for more than one shampoo after the service.
