21 Ideas for cosmetology graduation gifts!
First of all, YOU DID IT! Congratulations!
Now it’s time to celebrate! Or time to celebrate with our loved one or friend that has worked hard to finish beauty school and is ready to start this new chapter in life.
Personalized Cosmetology Graduation Gifts
All of the ideas below are excellent to have personalized, with your name on them, in a salon or barbershop because sometimes they get confused.
- Apron
Some salons share aprons, or you bring your own. To have your own apron personalized just for you is nice because nobody will get confused and wear your apron during a chemical service and leave it smelling like perm solution, or splattered with color, or bleach dust.
There is an incredible number of styles of salon aprons that can be personalized.
Hairstylist Apron with Rhinestones for $17.99
Black Hairstylist Thick Cotton Canvas Apron with Pockets for $12.99
V Neck Hairstylist Halterneck Apron for $19.00
- Reusable water bottle
My personal favorite thing to bring to the salon because if I like my water bottle I am more likely to drink more water during the day.
Hairstylists, barbers, and cosmetologists talk all day long with their clients. The more you talk, the more water comes out of your body on your breath. Like sweating, when water leaves your body you have to replenish it.
A personalized water bottle is the perfect gift for anyone like me, who likes to stay hydrated and makes a point to motivate myself to drink enough water.
32oz Colorful Time Mark Leak-free Water bottle BPA-free for $9.99
Stainless Steal Hydro Cell 32oz With Straw Water Bottle Hot/Cold for $19.99
- Personalized Travel Coffee Mug
Like the water bottle, it’s fun to have something that has been personalized, something that just you like (or the graduate receiving the gift). It can be a hot mug or even one of those cups with a straw.
If it brings a sprinkle of joy when its used then it’s worth using every day.
Lifetime Creations Engraved Personalized Hairstylist 20oz Coffee Tumbler for $26.99
JUFO Hairstylist Insulated Travel Tumbler 20oz for $17.99
- Jewelry
Industry related necklaces, scissors, combs, blow-dryers. These are super cute to wear in the salon, and makes great cosmetology graduation gifts!
Though some might like wearing their initials or even their own name on jewelry, if you want to give jewelry as a gift you will have to know the recipient well enough to know if they would like a personalized piece or just something pretty that you think they would like or would look great on them.
Some collect charms for bracelets or even necklaces. Again, you would have to know the recipient well enough to know if they would wear it.
Sterling Silver Hairstylist Charm for $17.99
Hairstylist Infinity Collection Bracelet for $15.00
Sterling Silver High Polish Hairstylist Scissor Necklace for $24.99
Hairstylist Appreciation Keychain for $12.99
Industry Related Cosmetology Graduation Gifts
I do not recommend buying tools for brand new cosmetology graduates unless they specifically asked for a specific tool.
- Ask the graduate if there are any tools they wish were in their kit that they didn’t receive
Sometimes the tools that arrive in your kit in Beauty School are excellent quality. Others are a little less and break before you’re done and need to be replaced. Or they learned about new tools that they would prefer over the ones they already have.
But if you are seriously wanting to purchase a professional tool as a gift be prepared to spend several hundred dollars. Depending on what the tool is, it may be less but many tools, like shears and clippers, are a bit more pricey.
- A booking planner
Most cosmetology graduates get a job in a salon fairly quickly after passing their State Board Exam and will be booking their own clients and building a clientele for themselves.
Scheduling and booking planners make great cosmetology graduation gifts because this communicates that you are excited for them to begin their career and have one place to keep their schedule and all of their notes about their clients in the same place.
Booking Planner for Hairstylists, Spas, Estheticians, Manicurists 15min Slots 7×10″ for $24.99
Vertical Appointment Book 15min Slots 4.5″x11.5 200 pages $10.99

Gifts for Cosmetologists for Outside of the Salon
Those in the beauty industry are excellent at taking care of others but terrible at taking time to treat and pamper themselves.
Give your graduate who has just worked hard for over a year a gift that they can only use to treat themselves.
- A gift card or voucher for a massage
- Gift card to their favorite coffee shop (After starting work in the salon they’ll need it)
- Makeup from their favorite makeup line
- A gift card to the nail salon for a manicure or pedicure (or both)
- A voucher to a spa for a facial
The Gift of an Experience
- A weekend getaway somewhere after graduation
- Tickets to a concert or sports event they were wanting to go to
- Take them to a really fancy restaurant to celebrate their graduation

Conclusion for 21 Ideas for Cosmetologist Graduation Gifts
Remember that you are celebrating with them! And your gift is personal. It tells them that you are happy for them and they will think of you every time they see the gift.
Personalized gifts like an apron, reusable water bottle, travel coffee mug, or jewelry.
Industry related gifts, a booking schedule planner or something to decorate their station at their new salon. Remember, if you want to give your graduate a tool to use in the salon ask them first what they wish they had, or what it is they would like.
A gift card to allow them to pamper themselves. Those in the Beauty Industry are great at pampering others but don’t get pampered enough themselves. Gift your cosmetology graduate with a gift card to get a massage, manicure or pedicure, or a facial.
The gift of an experience like tickets to a sports event or a concert that they would love.
Finally, something they could wear. T shirts and other apparel are fun to wear in the salon and when they’re at home on their day off.
